Call of Duty Advanced Warfare

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare

Call of Duty: Ghosts really felt like the last gasp of the series' immensely successful last-gen shooter formula.

It was a totally solid game throughout – which you’d expect considering it was the culmination of several years of iteration on the same engine and overall approach. But the premise felt limp, the campaign only went through the motions, and it couldn't help but feel like a stopgap to something better.
Luckily, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is just that: something better.
It’s still not quite amazing, revolutionary, or back to the very best of the series, but it is the biggest step forward since the muddy trenches of WWII were swapped for the concrete battlegrounds of the original Modern Warfare.

The near-future setting of those recent entries was starting to wear thin, so what does Advanced Warfare do? Go even further: almost 50 years into the future by the time the story wraps up, in fact. That ends up being a smart move, as the wild, creative military tech that Sledgehammer Games has dreamed up livens up the familiar gameplay in a fairly significant way.

Key to that approach is the exoskeleton, a hulking frame of armor that attaches to your soldier and allows him (or her if you’re playing multiplayer) to boost-jump high into the air, cloak, utilize super strength, and eventually fire off a grappling hook to zip around stages. In multiplayer, the impact makes for a much faster, more chaotic experience.

Decades dashed

Add to that hovering bikes and tanks, walking mech suits, forced-energy shotguns, and all manner of other future tech, and Call of Duty looks and feels different to all of the previous entries - if only slightly in some cases. Granted, some of the similarities to Titanfall are awfully curious, even if the development timelines make that more likely a coincidence than anything else.

Powered up

Ghosts' campaign was the least remarkable in the modern series, and Black Ops II before it had been rather inconsistent in tone and execution. Advanced Warfare thankfully delivers the strong single-player experience the series has lacked of late, although it unsurprisingly trades coherence for chaos and wild set pieces.

The adventure kicks off in 2054 as your young U.S. soldier is severely injured in battle – but quickly recruited by private military corporation Atlas to be patched up with prosthetics and dropped back into action. Atlas is overseen by the ambitious Jonathan Irons, sharply portrayed by Kevin Spacey in both look and voice; and believe it or not, power sure can corrupt. And so a new kind of villain for the series takes shape.

It's entertaining stuff, even if often silly or seemingly belligerent. Best to focus on the intense moments and occasionally stunning graphical flourishes. The campaign does end abruptly, but the seven-or-so hours that lead up to the credits pack in enough cinematic bombast to make it feel worthwhile.

Suit up and shoot

While most of the familiar online modes remain intact (Domination, Kill Confirmed, etc.), Advanced Warfare's multiplayer is sharply affected by the introduction of the exo suits. Double-jumping and power-launching your body through the air adds a new kind of mobility to the action, and the result feels very fast, very chaotic, and admittedly intimidating at first.

All of that adds to the initial learning curve, even for hardened series vets. But surprisingly, I've found myself having more online success than in any previous entry. Perhaps my opponents are still wrapping their heads around the new moves, and I'm simply taking advantage (fine with me). Whatever the case, I'm relieved to find that the new additions don't seem to overcomplicate the multiplayer design over time. Some traditional modes sans exo powers are included, too, if you do want something a little simpler.

Either way, Call of Duty online is still great fun. Here, the Pick 13 approach to character customization is much appreciated, as you can tweak your loadout down to minute details – and the game awards new guns and gear rather rapidly, thanks to level-based unlocks and the occasional bonus supply drop.

Also, having played on public servers for ove a week now, I haven’t noticed a single hint of lag. This is no Battlefield 4-like botch-up, thankfully.

Sadly, the last piece of the puzzle – the four-player Exo Survival co-op mode – comes off as a dull, obligatory addition. It's similar to the wave-based survival mode in Modern Warfare 3, albeit now with you and your mates outfitted with super suits and able to spend points on upgrades between rounds.

As ever, it's fun to play a shooter alongside your pals; that's a given. But Exo Survival proves unremarkable in its basic design and enemy assaults. Still, you might stick with it anyway, as there's a zombie-filled treat pulling you in as a final unlock. However, you'll have to complete a couple hundred rounds before it opens up. As if the mode didn't seem like enough of a slog as it is.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare verdict

Advanced Warfare is thankfully the exoskeleton-powered kick in the pants that Call of Duty has needed of late, even if it feels like an evolutionary shift for the still-familiar core series design.

The enticing future tech and stirred-up online play do an admirable job of making Call of Duty enticing and even exciting once more.

Far Cry 4

Far Cry 4

image

14 November 2014

You need time to deal with Far Cry 4. A lot of time.

You certainly ideally want more than the four days we were allowed with Ubisoft’s new open world shooter. This isn’t to say you won’t be able to finish the game’s main campaign in the time we were allotted to play it in, because we did. That’s just to say that that there’s so much more going on in Far Cry 4 beyond its narrative that it could keep players glued to it for weeks. Possibly months.

The reason for this is that Far Cry 4 puts a premium on distraction. Players may set out intent on taking part in a story mission, but on their way to a checkpoint they’ll invariably run across a radar tower or an enemy-held outpost or even a herd of animals whose pelts they need to unlock a weapon slot and all of a sudden, their original motivation goes flying out the window.

Far Cry 4 is a true open world game in that it entices – in fact, flat out encourages – players to go off piste. This is a game that offers unbridled freedom as a given. There’s a story anchoring the action, but the best moments in Far Cry 4 are those that players create for themselves – like riding an elephant through an enemy outpost or escaping from insurmountable odds by leaping off a cliff and deploying a wingsuit. Far Cry 4 has a decent plot, sure, but its biggest strength is the fact that, for the most part, it doesn’t get in the way of players experimenting.

The game’s map compliments an open-ended approach. It’s filled to bursting with activities, from radar towers to unlock, to outposts to raid to races to take part in and more. Once players engage in any of these missions, a laundry list of new activities opens up. The hardest task players are likely to encounter in Far Cry 4 is to stay focused on the task at hand.

The story of Far Cry 4 centres on Ajay Ghale and his quest to scatter his mother’s ashes in the country of her birth, Kyrat. Upon arriving, he’s snapped up by the local dictator – a flamboyant psycho named Pagan Min – from whose clutches he quickly escapes. Ajay soon comes into contact with Kyrat’s freedom fighter movement, The Golden Path, and it’s here the narrative starts to splinter.

The Golden Path has two leaders, Amita and Sabal, and both of them have very different ideas on how best to bring down Pagan Min’s brutal rule of Kyrat. Sabal is a conservative; while he puts a premium on the value of human life, he’s also committed to bringing Kyrat back to what he sees as traditional values. Amita, for her part has no time for Sabal’s borderline sexist outlook, but she’s not above taking over Pagan Min’s drug running operations if it means schools and hospitals can be built.

There’s no clear moral compass between the pair of them and the narrative is made all the more compelling by the fact that the player is eventually forced to pick a side. In Kyrat there are no easy choices and the player will likely have to reflect on the path they’ve chosen in the closing moment of the game.

In the meantime, Far Cry 4 tosses up a ton of distractions to engage the player. You can hunt animals, unlock radar towers, attack fortresses, take down outposts, take part in races, rescue hostages – the list goes on and on. Far Cry 4 is likely to keep players glued to it for hours at a time and the principle draw here is that no activity feels forced or mandatory. All the game’s tasks run into each other organically so players never feel like they’re being yanked in a direction they’re not comfortable with.

That having been said, it’s worth pointing out that some story missions box players into a style of play they may not be on board with. There are one or two plot missions that demand a stealthy approach and players who lack patience will find these segments heavy going. This is compounded by the fact that being spotted by the AI results in an instant fail; after allowing players such an innate sense of freedom, constricting their movements to such a degree feels almost draconian.

But these moments are few and far between. Players are far more likely to spend a ton of time exploring Kyrat, looting chests, killing and skinning animals, unlocking the map and generally exploring their environment to its deepest depths. Far Cry 4 also introduces two-player co-op on the campaign map, so if you’re finding a particular fort or outpost something of a pain to take down solo, you and a mate can team up to make shorter work of it.

There’s also a PVP multiplayer, although the strength of the single-player campaign makes it feel like something of a third wheel. A lot of the match types in the multiplayer are team-and-objective based, with players defending or attacking points in the map. There’s an asynchronous quality to the PVP as one side is armed with traditional firearms and the other with bows and arrows and the ability to cloak and command animals in the map. It’s a compelling affair but it’s doubtful that Far Cry 4 is going to eat into the online audience numbers of Call Of Duty, for example.

No, Far Cry 4’s principle attraction is most certainly its campaign, which is easily the best thing about it. The land of Kyrat is a vast and beautiful playground and players have every reason to get lost in it.

SanDisk launches world's biggest SD card

American firm SanDisk has released the largest capacity SD card ever produced, cramming 512GB of storage space into the postage stamp-sized format popularly used in cameras.
Its launch comes almost exactly a decade after the company unveiled its 512MB SD card, with 1,000 times less capacity than the latest version.
The SanDisk Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I memory card is designed for use by camera operators shooting 4K Ultra High Definition (3840x2160p) video, where a single minute of footage takes up 5GB of storage space.
Dinesh Bahal, vice president of product marketing at SanDisk, said: “4K Ultra HD is an example of a technology that is pushing us to develop new storage solutions capable of handling massive file sizes.”
The new card can write at speeds up to 90MB/s. Transfer speeds of 95MB/s are possible.

It is also built for and tested in harsh conditions, with SanDisk claiming it is "temperature proof, water proof, shock proof, and X-ray proof".
The cards are available worldwide in capacities of 512GB, 256GB and 128GB. The 512GB.

Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I card will be available for $799.99 (£493).
The Secure Digital (SD) format was introdfuced in 1999 to replace MultiMediaCards and have been produced by more than 400 companies since then.

SanDisk was one of the three companies that were key to the development of the format, alongside Matsushita and Toshiba.

Top 10 smartphones In 2014

This year has been one of the most interesting in history for smartphone users. Not only have we seen a rapid influx of industry-changing technologies from new players in the market, such as Amazon and Silent Circle, we’ve also seen a sweep of innovations from the more established mobile movers and shakers.
This is great, as the influx of new handsets and technologies will not only offer end users more choice, they’ll also lead to fresh competition and as a result innovation in the market as each player ups their game to win interest away from their competitors.
However, the flipside of this is that the wealth of innovative releases has made it difficult for many buyers to know what smartphone is best for them. Here to help we’ve created a definitive list of the top list of the 10 best smartphones set to arrive this year.
10. The iPhone 6 Plus
iPhone 6 Plus design in goldApple claimed for years that users didn’t want big-screen smartphones and there was no need for a handset to have a display any bigger than 4inches. However, given the popularity of big screens in other ecosystems, such as Android and Windows Phone, it’s become increasingly clear this is a false hypothesis.
Finally aware of this, Apple this year unveiled its first-ever phablet, the iPhone 6 Plus. Featuring a sizeable 1920x1080, 401ppi Retina HD display the iPhone 6 Plus is the first ever handset to bring all the inherent benefits of iOS 8 to the big screen.
As an added incentive Apple’s actually optimised its latest iOS 8 mobile operating system to work better on the iPhone 6 Plus’s display. For example, the iPhone 6 Plus's Messaging and Mail apps have a special two-tier horizontal user interface and separate keyboard with special keys for actions such as cut and paste.

9. Sony Xperia Z3
Sony Xperia Z3 smartphone hands-on at IFA - appsSony continued its rapid-release strategy at the IFA trade show in Berlin at the start of September when it unveiled its latest Xperia Z3 flagship smartphone.
The firm announced the Z3 a mere six months after its predecessor, the Xperia Z2, and while it doesn't offer huge improvements Sony has made a few important changes.
For starters the Xperia Z3 is thinner than the Xperia Z2 and will run using a more current version of Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.

Add to this its stellar 5.2in Full HD screen, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and 20.7MP rear-facing camera and we can’t help but get a excited about the Sony Xperia Z3.

8. Amazon Fire Phone
Amazon Fire Phone in hand press shotAmazon ended speculation that it was going to enter the handset market all the way back in June, when it unveiled its new Fire Phone.
However, upon its unveiling it was never made explicit whether the Fire phone would make it to British stores or if it would instead remain a US exclusive. Luckily since then Amazon’s been more forthcoming with its Fire Phone plans and has confirmed the Fire Phone will arrive in the UK and has made it available for pre-order in the UK, with prices starting at £33 per month on O2.
While the Fire Phone has a fairly unassuming design, under its rubber frame it is full of innovations, featuring Amazon's custom Dynamic Perspective and Firefly technologies.
Dynamic Display is custom screen technology that aims to offer glasses-free 3D viewing experiences using the Fire Phone's four front cameras.
Firefly is an information service that lets Fire Phone owners use the phone's camera and microphone to pull data from Amazon's database on a number of things including books, DVDs, phone numbers, QR codes, CDs, URLS, barcodes and business cards.

7. LG G3
LG G3 appsSince releasing its stellar G2 smartphone in 2013, Korean tech firm LG has worked hard to reestablish itself as an innovator in the market. Keeping this up in 2014 LG loaded its latest flagship G3 handset with a wealth of innovative software and hardware features.

Two of the most interesting of these are its 5.5in 2560x1440, 538ppi Quad HD display and advanced 13MP with Optical Image Stabilizer plus (OIS+) and Laser Autofocus rear camera.

The screen is interesting as it uses custom technology from LG that reduces the size of displayed pixels by 40 percent to push the screen's ppi-count past 500. This makes the screen, on paper, one of the sharpest ever made.

Laser Auto Focus is technology similar to that used by law enforcement agencies' radar guns and is designed to improve the phone's data capture and auto focus speeds - according to LG the tech lets the G3's camera focus images in 0.276 seconds making it one of the fastest camera phones available.

These features, combined with the G3's innovative design, which places the power and volume buttons on the phone's back, make it one of 2014's most interesting handsets.

6. HTC One M8
HTC One M8 with Android 4.4 Kitkat in silverTaiwanese firm HTC is probably the only company in the world that is as focused on design as Apple. As a result it's no surprise its 2014 flagship smartphone, the One M8, is one of the best looking and designed smartphones currently available.

Even better, underneath the One M8's robust, but elegant metal chassis lies a wealth of top end components. HTC's loaded the M8 with a high power Snapdragon 801 processor, high resolution 5in, 1080x1920, 441ppi, Super LCD3 capacitive touchscreen and Duo camera technology.

Duo Camera is a new technology that lets One M8's 4.1MP Ultrapixel rear camera capture spatial information using a second supporting camera sensor. This lets users manually adjust the point of focus and create a depth-of-field effect on a captured image.

The technology also lets the One M8 know the distance of objects in the shot and use the information to selectively ignore items in the foreground when applying filters and make it a great choice for any blogger looking to get creative when shooting photos with their smartphone.

5. Blackphone
A man in an alleyway using a mobile phoneSince news of the PRISM spying campaign broke, privacy has been at the forefront of many people's minds. The scandal has made people more concerned than ever about what happens to their data.
So secure communications specialist Silent Circle teamed up with hardware engineers at Geeksphone to create a new snoop-busting Blackphone. The Blackphone will run using a heavily customised, security-focused version of Android, codenamed PrivatOS.
Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) encryption protocol creator and Silent Circle president Phil Zimmermann has lent his support to the phone and promised it will let users securely send and receive data. This all adds up to mean the Blackphone is one of the best choices available for any privacy conscious smartphone buyer.

4. Nokia Lumia 930
Nokia Lumia 930 with Windows Phone 8.1Microsoft made a big deal about Windows Phone 8.1, listing it as the first "enterprise-ready" version of its mobile OS, when it first arrived in the UK.
Having thoroughly tested Windows Phone 8.1 during our full review, we can understand why. Featuring advanced security and productivity features, such as a new Word Flow Keyboard, and mobile device-management support plus all the inherently great mobile applications seen on previous Windows Phone versions, Windows Phone 8.1 is truly fit for business.
As a result it's no surprise the Lumia 930 – which, as well as running on Windows Phone 8.1 also features top-end hardware, including the Finnish firm's hallowed PureView imaging technology – is one of the best phones to arrive this year.
3. Samsung Galaxy S5
Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE A in RedSamsung handsets' releases always come with a lot of fanfare. Luckily this year the fuss was justified and Samsung unveiled what in our mind is its most innovative smartphone to date, the Galaxy S5.
Featuring a rugged, water and dust proof IP-certified design and wealth of top end components, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and upgraded 16MP rear camera, there is a lot to like about the Galaxy S5 from a hardware perspective.
However, the Galaxy S5's charms don't stop there. Samsung's also added custom fingerprint scanner and Knox security services to the phone.
The fingerprint scanner lets users set the Galaxy S5 to only unlock when the user has proven their identity using it. Knox is a sandboxing feature based on NSA technology that lets users set up work and personal areas on the phone. The work side is password protected and encrypts any data stored on it, ensuring it should remain safe should the Galaxy S5 be lost or stolen.

The combination of top end tech and robust security make the Galaxy S5 one of the best Android smartphones currently available to businesses.

2. Nexus 6
Nexus 5 display
With the Nexus 5 only released in November, little is known about Google's next flagship smartphone, which is commonly referred to as the Nexus 6.
But given the success it has had with its last two LG-made Nexus devices, it's a safe bet it'll be cheap. Both the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 offered buyers great value for money. With prices starting at a modest £300, the two flagship smartphones offered performance and specifications usually only seen on handsets that cost twice the price.
This tactic has proven a solid hit with buyers and helped both the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 sell out on the official Google Play Store hours after being made available. Given the success of the two devices, we can't see Google straying too far from its established pattern for the Nexus 6, which is no bad thing.
1. iPhone 6 iPhone 6 running iOS 8 camera iMessage and MapsApple launched its iPhone 5S last September, and according to its own sales stats the handset was another winner. Apple managed to shift nine million iPhone 5S and 5C devices in the first three days of availability.
One year on the firm looks set to continue its success with its latest iPhone 6 smartphone. Unveiled in September the iPhone 6 is in many people’s eyes, including us here at V3, Apple’s most interesting smartphone to date.

Featuring a completely new curvaceous metal design, super-fast A8 processor Apple claims is 25 percent faster than the previous-generation A7 and sizeable 4.7in, 1334x750, 326ppi Retina HD display, coupled with Californian firm’s latest iOS 8 mobile operating system the iPhone 6 is on paper one of 2014’s finest handsets.

First photograph of James Connolly taken

This photograph was taken by a Second Lieutenant Milligan of the Royal Irish Rifles at the very north end of O’Connell Street on April 29, 1916. The man covered by a white sheet on a stretcher is believed to be James Connolly.

A new book by Easter Rising historian Mick O’Farrell includes what is believed to be the first ever photo of James Connolly during the 1916 rebellion.

O’Farrell’s publication includes a picture of a man on a stretcher taken on the evening of April 29th, 1916.

The author is convinced that the man, covered in a white sheet and surrounded by six supporters and British soldiers, is Connolly.

One of the last leaders to be executed, Connolly was so wounded that he was unable to stand up to face the firing squad in Kilmainham jail.

His execution sparked massive outrage and public anger which still exists to this day.

According to a report in the Irish Times, the image is the first photograph purporting to be that of Connolly during the Rising.

The report says the photo was taken at the corner of O’Connell Street and Parnell Street.
It first surfaced in an eBay auction 10 years ago when the officer’s box of a Second Lieutenant Milligan of the Royal Irish Rifles was put up for sale.

O’Farrell bid for the lot, including other never before released photographs of the Rising, but lost out to British collector Karl Vines.

He is convinced the photograph is that of Connolly and says it corresponds with various witness accounts of what happened after the rebels surrendered.

The Irish Times adds that the photograph has written on the back: “Sinn Féin officers taken prisoners Saturday 29/4/16”.

O’Farrell told the paper that his interest was piqued because of the presence of so many British soldiers surrounding the man on the stretcher.

He said: “I knew it was somebody significant. I’m definite it was Connolly.”

Historical accounts say that Connolly was carried from the rebel leaders Moore Street headquarters to the British Army headquarters at the National Bank on the corner of O’Connell Street and Parnell Street.

Citizen Army Officer Liam Tannam recalled: “We were then brought to the centre of the road and ordered to march in the direction of the Parnell Monument.

“We were surrounded by 30/50 soldiers with fixed bayonets. Of course, Connolly was being carried by the four men.

O’Farrell added: “As far as his officers are concerned, they were taking Connolly to treat for surrender terms, but these were rejected and then they were held prisoner.”

The new book also includes an account from Company Sergeant Major S.H Lomas of the Sherwood Foresters.

He recalled that Padraig Pearse whistled as he faced the firing squad.

Lomas wrote: “It was sad to think that these three brave men who met their death so bravely should be fighting for a cause which proved so useless and has been the means of so much bloodshed.

10 Ways To Get Your Ex Boyfriend Back!

Get-your-Ex-Boyfriend-Back

To get your ex boyfriend back, you’ll need to first understand why he left and how you might have pushed him away. Being too clingy or needy can push someone away just as much as not giving any attention at all.
Here I've outlined the Top 10 Ways to Get Your Ex Boyfriend Back.

Understand that there is not always one set thing that will work for everyone, but this guide will help you avoid the common pitfalls and increase your chances substantially.

  • Tip *1 – Resist blaming your ex boyfriend.

Resist wanting to blame, argue or make your ex boyfriend jealous in the hope that he will magically come back, just so you would STOP annoying him. See how illogical this is? You can’t attract love while throwing out negative energy. Even if you’re upset with him right now, you must remain calm and act as mature as possible.

  • Tip *2 – Don’t just shower him with love to get him back.

By throwing too much attention his way, this will usually not do any good because he knows you only want him back. Doing this to over-compensate what you failed to do before is not only a little late, it might even push him further away. If you want him back, you need to know why he left in the first place.

  • Tip *3 – Desperation kills attraction.

Feeling desperate means acting desperate. The best way to handle this is to resist talking to your ex for now. If you find yourself constantly calling him, txt messaging or begging and pleading for him to take you back, all these are signs of desperation.
He has the upperhand for now but if you show him that you’re still in control, your strength during this time will be very attractive for him.

  • Tip *4 – Don’t stalk or bug his friends and family.

You might be desperate enough that you find yourself devising accidental run-ins and trying to pull information out of his friends and family. You won’t be fooling anyone and will look foolish instead. Stay out of their way and its best to even avoid going to places where you might run into him altogether.

  • Tip *5 – Analyze what went wrong in the relationship.

The fastest and best way to get your ex boyfriend back comes from taking a look at yourself. Sometimes we choose not to see something because that thing causes pain to us. But how you feel about yourself usually reflects back into the relationship you have. Take a look at what you were doing or not doing to cause the relationship to crumble.

  • Tip *6 – Bring back the best qualities about you.

Remember why your boyfriend fell in love with you in the first place? If you can’t answer this, you’ll need to do a bit of soul searching. You won’t be able to attract anyone if you don’t know what it is about you that attracted him in the first place.

  • Tip *7 – Jot down in a notepad all the pros and cons of your relationship.

No matter what you may think, your relationship did end for a reason. Now you must find out if its even a good idea to get back together with your ex boyfriend. The best way to do this is to write everything down in a pros and cons list, so you can see everything at once.

  • Tip *8 – Understand this won’t be forever.

Your break up pain will be hard to get for now but understand this won’t be forever. Time heals all wounds and its best you have this mindset to begin with to speed up your recovery. People do reunite all the time and there’s no reason why you can’t get your ex boyfriend back in the future.

  • Tip *9 – Don’t put your life on hold for him.

If you want to get over the break up quickly, you’ll not only have a better chance to get your ex boyfriend back, but you’ll be able to get on with your life faster also. The best thing to do is to focus on other areas of your life. Dive into work, delve into your hobbies, go out more with your friends.
In essence, just get on with your life. Even if you don’t feel like it.

  • Tip *10 – Do some improving.

Improving yourself will not only increase your self-esteem and confidence but it will make you happier in the long run.

This magic formula will have your ex begging to come back you in no time.

Save Money by Building Your Company’s Website With Wix

Building a company website is one of the most important parts of creating a successful business. It doesn’t make a difference if your company is based on the internet or a traditional brick-and-mortar business, an online presence is a requirement to reach and expand your customer base. But designing a website can be time consuming and expensive. Web designers are difficult to work with, and even though you’re paying them, they’re really only working for themselves. There are cheaper ways to establish your company online, and Wix.com stands out amongst them.
Wix.com offers free HTML5 and Flash website design that you can do on your own, without having to pay for a pricey web designer. With unlimited space for as many pages as you want, customized looks, photo galleries, animations, and blog platform capabilities, social networking buttons, Wix has everything a business of any size needs to make an impact online. You get full control over what information fills in the blanks, and you don’t have to know a thing about HTML to make this work. The way your website looks says a lot about your company. Wix does that, and it does it for free.
You need your website to look professional, and to communicate your brand to the world. Wix lets you create a website that does all that and won’t make you go bankrupt. All of the 280 templates available on Wix are professional grade web design without the pricey web designer. Another thing that makes Wix the most affordable option in creating a website is that you don’t have to pay for a separate web host—every page created on Wix is hosted on Wix, free of charge.
The internet is the marketplace of ideas: your company needs to share what you think. If you think just because you don’t sell a product online you don’t need a website you’re dead wrong. Thinking like that is the equivalent of not advertising because you can’t buy your product from an ad, or not having a business card because people can always look up your number in the phone book—it doesn’t make sense.  No matter what kind of business you have, if you want to reach an audience you want to have a website that speaks to people. Wix lets you do that as quickly and easily as possible for free.

If you have a bigger budget, Wix has more options than just the free web sites design. You can choose to upgrade to the ad-less version which won’t clutter up your customer’s screens when they visit your site. But if the most important thing to you is getting your company’s name online right now, try Wix.com today.

Facebook Debuts a 'Privacy Checkup' Tool to Help You Control Your Data.

Facebook Debuts a ‘Privacy Checkup’ Tool to Help You Better Control Your Data

On Thursday, Facebook released a new tool to help you understand and control your privacy settings on the site.
First announced back in April, the Privacy Checkup tool lets you see and adjust who can view your data, as well as which apps can access it. It is navigated, curiously, with the help of a nameless blue dinosaur –– let’s call him Clippyosaurus –– who pops up now and then and reminds you to review your privacy settings to “make sure they’re set up the way you want.”
“Today, we’re starting to roll out Privacy Checkup, which helps you review and control who you’re sharing with.
“We know you come to Facebook to connect with friends, not with us. But we also know how important it is to be in control of what you share and who you share with.”
The release is likely a move for Facebook to improve its public image, which has been marred by several privacy scandals in the past several years.
The Privacy Checkup tool attempts to both simplify the process of changing your sharing settings and demystify whom you’re sharing with.
The tool isn’t a cure-all. While it might help you better understand what you’re sharing and with whom, for example, it doesn't change the fact that Facebook farms out your detailed personal data to advertisers for profit by default.
Anyway, below is a quick run-through of how the tool works:
When you access your privacy settings via the lock symbol in the upper-right corner of Facebook’s navigation bar, your (Mac-using?) dinosaur friend will appear and be like, “Hey, privacy, blah blah blah.

Facebook’s Privacy Checkup

After you click Privacy Checkup, a box will pop up on your screen. Via this tool, you can monitor Your Posts, Your Apps, and Your Profile.
The first page is a basic run-through of who can see the updates you write on your page.

The second is a survey of which apps are connected to your Facebook. I’ll admit it’s nice to have quick access to this, as I often try out an app once or twice and then forget about it. With this tool, I can remove its access to my data with one click. You can also adjust who sees your activity on the app.

Finally, you’re shown all the basic personal info on your profile and given the choice to adjust what it says and who sees it.

That’s all it does! At the very least, this simplifies the convoluted process of adjusting your privacy that’s caused so many problems in the past.
